Frida Kahlo July 6, 1907 - July 13, 1954: Born Magdalena Kerman. Frida Kahlo was a Mexican painter best known for her self-portraits. Kahlo's life began and ended in Coyoacan (UN), in her home known as the Blue House. The date of birth she presented was July 7, 1910, but her birth certificate shows July 6, 1907. Kahlo supposedly wanted her year of birth to be the year the Mexican Revolution began, so her life began with the birth of modern Mexico. Her work is celebrated in Mexico as a symbol of national and local tradition and by feminists for an uncompromising depiction of the female experience.
